The 'Now You See Me' franchise is making a highly anticipated comeback with the release of 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' in India on November 14. Nearly a decade since the last installment, the Horsemen are back, joined by a new generation of illusionists.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the film aims to reboot the franchise with fresh faces and familiar flair. It opens with the "Heart" diamond heist, reuniting the original Four Horsemen - Daniel Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Jack Wilder, and Henley Reeves. They soon cross paths with a new trio of young magicians, and together, they take on Veronika Vanderburg, a diamond mogul and international crime boss played by the wickedly funny Rosamund Pike.
Fleischer's direction keeps the film moving at a brisk pace, with a distinct 'Mission: Impossible'-meets-Ocean's Eleven energy. The magic tricks, part practical and part CGI, remain the franchise's calling card, even if the digital sheen sometimes robs them of wonder. While the storytelling can get a bit lost in a maze of twists and subplots, the film's popcorn appeal and sense of nostalgia make it a slick enough illusion to keep audiences engaged.
