IFFI Cancels Events to Mourn Beloved Actor Dharmendra

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has cancelled all scheduled entertainment programs for November 24 to honor the esteemed late actor Dharmendra. The veteran performer passed away in Mumbai after a short illness, shortly before his 90th birthday on December 8. His passing has been met with widespread sadness.

As a mark of respect, the Entertainment Society of Goa observed a minute of silence prior to a film screening within the Goan films section. Festival delegates joined in paying homage to the beloved icon. The Chief Minister of Goa conveyed his deep sorrow, remembering Dharmendra as one of Indian cinema's most enduring stars.

While on-stage events and performances like Romtamel were halted, film screenings at all festival venues continued as planned. The actor's illness had led to his hospitalization earlier in the month, and the cause of death has not been officially disclosed.
