The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) observed a somber note on Monday, canceling all scheduled entertainment programs to mourn the passing of legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra. While non-delegates' musical shows and events in the Inox courtyard were paused, film screenings across all venues proceeded as planned. The WAVES Film Bazaar's closing ceremony also included a moment of silence, attended by prominent filmmakers. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed deep sadness, extending condolences to Dharmendra's family and admirers.
A special event is slated for Tuesday at 1 pm at the Kala Academy, featuring filmmaker Rahul Rawail, to celebrate Dharmendra's enduring legacy. Organizers are also considering a tribute during IFFI's closing ceremony on November 28, though details remain undisclosed.
