Vietnam War Play "Tracers" Immortalized in Groundbreaking Documentary

In 2025, a groundbreaking documentary is set to honor one of the most influential works of art about the Vietnam War. "Tracers," a play conceived by Vietnam veteran John DiFusco and co-written by his fellow vets, has captivated audiences for over four decades since its premiere in 1980. The documentary, directed by Perniciaro, blends never-before-seen archival footage and new interviews with the original creative team, including director Gary Sinise, to offer a comprehensive look at the play's enduring legacy.

Tracing the journey of a group of young American soldiers from basic training to their combat experiences in Vietnam and the challenges of their return home, "Tracers" has been performed thousands of times worldwide over the past 45 years. The documentary features a newly staged performance of the play, with an ensemble cast that includes rising talents like Spencer House, Darius Fraser, and Moe Jeudy-Lamour.

Perniciaro, who first saw a performance of "Tracers" as a 19-year-old, has realized a long-held dream to tell this powerful story through a unique storytelling format that honors both the work itself and the creative process behind it. The film is produced by Diorama in association with Bow and Arrow Entertainment, with DiFusco, Jimmy Goodmon, and Shelly Leslie serving as executive producers.
