In a highly anticipated move, acclaimed director Morten Tyldum has been tapped to helm the upcoming film "Ibelin." The movie is based on the real-life story of Mats Steen, a man who, despite facing a degenerative muscular disease, found solace and a vibrant digital life through the popular video game "World of Warcraft."
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Charlie Plummer, Stephen Graham, Toni Collette, Isabela Merced, Maisy Stella, and the legendary Sir Anthony Hopkins. "Ibelin" will explore not only Steen's captivating digital journey but also the close-knit group of "World of Warcraft" fans who became his admirers, as well as his loving and chaotic family.
Vendôme Pictures is partnering with Pathé on the production, following their successful collaboration on the Oscar-winning film "CODA." Principal photography for "Ibelin" is set to take place in Europe in 2026, and the film is expected to captivate audiences with its poignant and inspiring narrative.
