Ian Munsick's philosophy of prioritizing musical inspiration over lyrical was evident in the creation of his single, "Love is Blind." The song's genesis occurred during a holiday break in December 2024 when Munsick, feeling inspired, developed an ascendant guitar riff. This musical foundation quickly led to the initial lyrics, with the theme of infidelity shaping the narrative.
The collaborative writing process for "Love is Blind" involved Munsick, Ryan Tyndell, and Jeremy Spillman connecting via Zoom from different states: Wyoming, Texas, and Tennessee, respectively. Discussions about the song's theme of a one-sided relationship led to the title "Love is Blind." The writing session on January 9th also incorporated internal rhymes and a nod to B.J. Thomas.
Munsick refined the song on a work tape for nearly a year before signing with Triple Tigers. Co-presidents Kevin Herring and Annie Ortmeier recognized the song's radio potential, a validation that solidified Munsick's trust in them.
Co-produced by Munsick, Spillman, and Mike Robinson at The Fishbowl studio, the track featured meticulous layering of instruments, with a focus on building around the lead vocal. Munsick's dedication to capturing the perfect vocal take was managed by Spillman and Robinson, who ensured the process moved forward efficiently. The production included a fiddle solo, programmed drums, bass, and guitar tracks, culminating in Munsick's own harmonies. The single has charted on the Country Airplay list, supported by early radio adopters.
