A state-level artisan exhibition and fair is scheduled to commence on July 16 at the HMDA Grounds in Hyderabad, coinciding with the Ashada Bonalu festival. This event is being organized by the rural development department and SERP, providing a crucial opportunity for artisans from across Telangana to directly market their unique products. The exhibition will showcase a diverse array of Bonalu-related items and traditional crafts. Artisans from communities such as potters, blacksmiths, weavers, and goldsmiths will participate, with an increased number of stalls available this year to accommodate more craftsmen. The initiative, announced by BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, aims to significantly boost artisans' incomes, preserve the rich handicraft heritage of Telangana, and inspire younger generations to pursue traditional occupations. The minister appealed to the large number of devotees attending the Bonalu festivities to visit the exhibition and support the artisans by purchasing handmade goods, emphasizing that each purchase aids an artisan's livelihood and cultural preservation efforts.
