The Australian thriller series 'Watching You' has been acquired by Hulu for U.S. streaming. This acquisition signifies a continued interest from U.S. buyers in international drama productions. The deal, part of a broader agreement with distributor ITV Studios, also brings the series to Disney+ subscribers across EMEA, including the UK.
Premiering on February 20, the six-part series stars Aisha Dee, Josh Helman, and Luke Cook. It is based on J.P. Pomare's novel 'The Last Guests' and delves into complex themes of privacy, relationships, and technology. The plot centers on Lina, played by Dee, who uncovers that a hidden camera recorded her affair in a rental property.
Amid rising paranoia and threats, Lina embarks on a mission to identify the voyeur responsible for capturing her private moments. Originally produced for Australian streamer Stan, 'Watching You' is a product of Lingo Pictures in association with its parent company, ITVS. This move by Hulu to secure international content follows recent acquisitions of other scripted series, reflecting a dynamic shift in the streaming market.
