Rametsi Embodies Hugh Masekela in 'The Road Home'

Filming is underway in South Africa for 'The Road Home,' a new film that will feature Thabo Rametsi portraying the iconic activist and musician Hugh Masekela. A first-look image shows Rametsi as Masekela, who spent three decades in exile due to the Sharpeville Massacre.

The narrative centers on Masekela's involvement with the Anti-Apartheid Movement. He diverged from Archbishop Trevor Huddleston's stance on Paul Simon's 'Graceland' album, which faced a boycott for violating UN Cultural Boycott guidelines.

Masekela then joined forces with Miriam Makeba to establish the Graceland band, a supergroup dedicated to broadcasting South Africa's struggle globally through music.

Rametsi is joined by Guy Pearce as Huddleston, Johnny Flynn as Simon, and Cynthia Erivo as Makeba. The film is directed by Bill Condon and written by Michael Bronner.
