Hugh Jackman's "Scratchy Fridays" Delight Movie Sets with Lottery Tickets

According to a recent report, acclaimed actor Hugh Jackman has maintained a generous tradition on movie sets for over a decade. Known as "Scratchy Fridays," Jackman's ritual involves buying scratch-off lottery tickets for the entire cast and crew.

This kind gesture appears to have started in the early 2000s, when Jackman was still acclimating to American-run movie productions. During a 2015 press conference, the Australian actor explained that he began the tradition as a way to bond with his colleagues and spread some good cheer. Jackman revealed that one person had even won $1,500 from one of his ticket giveaways, though he joked that the odds of getting rich from lottery scratchers are slim.

Despite his busy schedule, Jackman has continued the "Scratchy Friday" tradition to this day. In 2024, he shared on Instagram about participating in the ritual while filming the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Though he couldn't recall exactly why he started it, Jackman expressed that he still finds joy in treating his crew to the weekly lottery tickets.
