A sequel to the recently released box-office hit "The Housemaid" has been officially announced by Lionsgate. Titled "The Housemaid's Secret," the new film will be based on the second novel in Freida McFadden's popular trilogy. Production is scheduled to commence later this year, with anticipation high for the continuation of the psychological thriller's narrative.
The original "The Housemaid," starring Sydney Sweeney, has proven to be a significant commercial success, amassing over $75 million domestically and $133 million worldwide within just 17 days of its release. Despite a modest production budget of $35 million, the film directed by Paul Feig has captivated audiences globally.
Lionsgate has expressed intentions for both Feig and Sweeney to reprise their roles in the sequel, with Sweeney also possibly taking on an executive producer capacity. Rebecca Sonnenshine, who penned the script for the first installment, is attached to write the screenplay for "The Housemaid's Secret," ensuring continuity in the acclaimed storytelling.
