Netflix has officially greenlit 'Hot Ones: Extra Heat,' a new spinoff of Sean Evans' popular interview series. This development comes almost two years after talks between Netflix and the show's producers first emerged.
This latest expansion for the 'Hot Ones' brand will see the show venture outside its traditional studio setting. Each 30-minute episode will feature Evans interviewing celebrities at locations that tie into significant Netflix tentpole moments, such as live sporting events or film and series premieres.
While the original 'Hot Ones' often featured talent promoting upcoming projects, the new series aims to enhance this promotional aspect. The show is scheduled to launch after Netflix's live stream of the Home Run Derby on July 13, which will feature Will Ferrell, Fortune Feimster, and Jimmy Tatro promoting their new series, 'The Hawk.'
Sean Evans will continue to host and executive produce the series, alongside Chris Schonberger, Sarah Honda, Aaron Cooke, and showrunner K.P. Anderson. Digital Cinema Collective is handling production for the show. Evans expressed excitement about bringing a larger scale and spectacle to the interview format while retaining the core elements that fans love about 'Hot Ones.' The original 'Hot Ones' series will continue to be available on YouTube.
