Horizon Sequel's Future Uncertain as Legal Battles Rage
4 May
Summary
- Horizon 2's 2026 release is unlikely due to legal issues.
- Kevin Costner is pursuing funding for two more Horizon installments.
- The first Horizon film found success on streaming platforms.

Warner Bros. has indicated that a 2026 theatrical release for "Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2" is not planned. The project is largely frozen due to legal disputes, including a lawsuit over unpaid costume fees and a separate suit from a stunt double concerning an allegedly unscripted scene. These cases remain unresolved.
Despite these setbacks, director and star Kevin Costner is determined to complete the planned four-part "Horizon" series. He has reportedly sought funding for Chapters 3 and 4 in Saudi Arabia and is considering a $100 million film studio in Utah.
The first "Horizon" film, released in 2024 with a budget around $100 million, grossed less than $39 million worldwide. However, "Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1" later achieved considerable success on streaming platforms, debuting at No. 3 on Netflix's U.S. Top 10 chart and is set for release on Prime Video on May 23rd.
While the streaming success offers momentum, the future of "Chapter 2" and the subsequent installments remains in question, pending resolution of legal issues and securing further funding.
