Cinema Guild Acquires Hong Sangsoo's 'The Day She Returns'

Acclaimed South Korean auteur Hong Sangsoo's latest feature, 'The Day She Returns,' premiered at the 76th Berlin Film Festival. This marks the seventh consecutive year Hong has presented a film at the prestigious festival. Cinema Guild has acquired the North American distribution rights for the film.
"The Day She Returns" stars Song Sunmi in the role of an actress who takes a break from her career following marriage and divorce, only to make a comeback in an independent film. Sunmi is joined by long-time Hong Sangsoo collaborators Cho Yunhee and Park Miso. The film was produced by Hong's company, Jeonwonsa Film Co.
Cinema Guild, known for distributing world cinema and independent films, expressed excitement about the acquisition. The distributor plans to release other Hong Sangsoo films, including 'What Does That Nature Say to You,' alongside works by other notable filmmakers. The Berlin Film Festival ran from February 12 and concluded on February 22.
