Borgohain, born in 1932 and passing in May 2021, was a significant intellectual figure in Assam. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1978 for his novel "Pita Putra" and served as president of the Assam Sahitya Sabha. His contributions profoundly shaped literary and social consciousness.
The statue, erected by the Homen Borgohain Trust, serves as a beacon of inspiration. Attendees, including MP Pradan Baruah and educationist Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, praised Borgohain as a "conscience keeper of Assamese society" and a philosopher whose vision transcended literature.
