In the past year, a wave of Hollywood personalities have been selling their stateside properties and decamping for the picturesque shores of Portugal. As of October 2025, a growing colony of stars including Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Nicole Kidman, Madonna, Scarlett Johansson, and John Malkovich have reportedly purchased homes around Lisbon and the coastal region of Comporta.

Comporta, in particular, is emerging as a new hub for the entertainment industry, with its stunning sunsets, calm politics, and remarkably low property taxes—just 947 euros per year for a four-bedroom oceanview home. Former NBC and Comcast executive Ted Harbert, who recently bought a home in the area, describes it as the "Hamptons of Europe," noting that his old friend Ben Silverman also owns a property nearby.
