23 Mar
Summary
- Project Hail Mary India release postponed to March 26, 2026.
- Co-director Phil Lord joked about India's film industry.
- Indian films gain global cultural relevance, boosted by RRR.

The India release of Ryan Gosling's highly anticipated sci-fi film, "Project Hail Mary," has been rescheduled from March 20 to March 26, 2026. This strategic postponement aims to prevent a box office clash with the espionage-thriller "Dhurandhar: The Revenge," starring Ranveer Singh. The film's co-director, Phil Lord, humorously remarked on the evolving dynamics, acknowledging India's robust film industry.
Lord and his directing partner, Christopher Miller, discussed the expanding global footprint of Indian cinema. They noted how films like "RRR" have significantly increased Indian movies' cultural relevance in the United States, reaching audiences beyond the South Asian diaspora. This marks a notable shift from previous decades where Hollywood releases often dictated scheduling.
"Project Hail Mary" will now premiere across India on March 26, 2026, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Based on Andy Weir's 2021 novel, the film features Gosling as a scientist who awakens on a spacecraft with amnesia. The movie is a collaborative production involving Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Lord Miller Productions, and others.
