Hollyoaks has recast the role of Kathleen-Angel McQueen, with Naledi Raptou, 21, stepping in for Kiara Mellor. This recasting is intended to 'age up' the character, enabling more mature storylines and integrating her into the show's growing teen group. Raptou's debut is scheduled for March 17, 2026. Meanwhile, a significant departure is announced as Alex Fletcher, who has portrayed Diane Hutchinson for 16 years, will be leaving the soap. Her exit will feature a poignant storyline where Diane is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, a plot developed with Ovarian Cancer Action to raise awareness. Fletcher shared that the storyline is personally meaningful due to her uncle's cancer treatment. The show aims to accurately and sensitively portray the challenges of the disease, hoping to empower women to recognize symptoms and seek help sooner. Plans are underway for an emotional exit for Fletcher's character.
