Summary
- Hofesh Shechter's latest work for junior company explores communal movement.
- Dancers aged under 25 deliver a hungry, energetic performance.
- Subterranean mood enhanced by dim lighting and moody electronic music.

Contemporary dance continues to embrace the pulsating energy of rave culture, with Hofesh Shechter's latest production, "In the Brain," being a prime example. Developed from a 2022 piece for the Martha Graham Dance Company, this work is performed by Shechter II, the choreographer's junior company.
Comprised of exceptional young dancers under 25, selected globally, Shechter II infuses the performance with a raw, hungry energy. They fully commit to exploring communal movement, driven by Shechter's signature rhythmic and beat-driven musical compositions.
The production, while celebratory, is not solely an energetic party. It incorporates quieter moments and a gradual build-up, punctuated by unexpected stylistic detours. A subterranean mood pervades the piece, amplified by Tom Visser's atmospheric, dim lighting and Shechter's moody, dusky score, augmented by music from techno duo Âme.
