- Reclaimed slates and estate timber are used in the repairs.

Work on a century-old roof at the Grade I listed Boughton House is in its final stages. Construction began in October on the stately home near Kettering, Northamptonshire, to restore the structure using reclaimed Collyweston slates and timber from the estate.
Over 20 tonnes of lead and oak from the estate have been incorporated into the extensive repairs. Building operations manager Matthew Curwen highlighted the paramount importance of keeping the historic building wind and watertight, as repairs were no longer feasible.
The project involved over 10 contractors and approximately 50 individuals across various trades. The scope of work extends beyond the roof to include other damaged elements like windows, using a blend of traditional design and modern techniques.
