In a dazzling festive production at Sadler's Wells East, ZooNation presents a vibrant reinvention of "A Christmas Carol." Choreographer Dannielle "Rhimes" Lecointe reimagines Ebenezer Scrooge as Ebony, a formidable fashion maven whose icy demeanor contrasts with her employees' struggles. This hip-hop interpretation infuses the classic tale with a Caribbean flair, set to the energetic beats and rhythms crafted by award-winning Mikey J Asante.
The narrative follows Ebony, portrayed with sharp, catwalk-ready dance moves, as she is visited by the ghosts of Christmas. These spectral encounters force her to shed her haute couture for streetwear and confront the grief and loss that shaped her past. The production skillfully blends buoyant locking, infectious house dance, and sassy vogue, showcasing the dancers' exceptional talent.
