Marking the anniversary of the Roerich Pact, a significant solo art exhibition has opened at the Azad Art Gallery in Varanasi. Titled 'Himalaya: The Sacred Silence of Spirituality and Peace,' the exhibition features the works of contemporary artist Hari Darshan Sankhya. The inauguration included a tribute to Nicholas Roerich's vision for cultural heritage protection.
The collection comprises 21 masterpieces from Sankhya's extensive series of 108 paintings, which resulted from his three-year solitary research expedition in the Garhwal Himalayas. These works vividly portray the spiritual energy and breathtaking beauty of revered locations such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Mount Kailash.
Renowned writer Nilay Upadhyay described the art as 'Sattvic Art,' noting that Sankhya's paintings are more than landscapes; they are meditations capturing the Himalayas' vital energy and inviting deep contemplation. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with INTACH Varanasi and others, runs until April 17, aiming to highlight culture's role in achieving enduring peace.
