Brian Cox steps behind the camera to direct and star in "Glenrothan," a sentimental comedy-drama penned by David Ashton. The film centers on Sandy (Cox), the gruff head of a prosperous family-owned distillery that serves as the economic backbone of its Scottish Highland community.
Sandy summons his long-estranged younger brother, Donal (Alan Cumming), back from Chicago to visit. Donal, who left years ago after a fierce quarrel with their father over family matters, now returns with his daughter Amy (Alexandra Shipp) and granddaughter Sasha (Alexandra Wilkie).
As Donal navigates his return to his roots, the brothers confront their past and the legacy of their family's business. Sandy, in declining health, contemplates the future and the crucial matter of succession for the beloved distillery.
