High on Life 2: All Platforms, No Xbox Exclusivity

High on Life 2 is set for a simultaneous release across Xbox and PlayStation platforms, a strategic shift from its predecessor's exclusivity. Squanch Games CEO Mike Fridley revealed that PlayStation is the primary sales platform, with Steam following closely behind. This decision simplifies the marketing strategy, eliminating the need for separate promotional campaigns. Fridley emphasized that launching on all platforms is more cost-effective.

The inclusion of High on Life 2 on Xbox Game Pass was also a factor, acknowledging Microsoft's support for the original title. Fridley believes that offering the game on Game Pass is crucial for establishing the franchise, allowing a wider audience to experience it. He noted that even after a delay for the first game on PlayStation due to an exclusivity clause, Sony's platforms remained the leading market for sales. The simultaneous launch aims to capitalize on this strong PlayStation player base, assuming they will purchase the game on their preferred console rather than through Game Pass.
