Designer Keeps 'Ugly' Mementos From HGTV Renovations

HGTV designer Alison Victoria has cultivated a distinctive collection of mementos from the homes renovated on "Ugliest House in America." She revealed that she keeps one "ugly" item from each project, amassing a variety of home decor oddities. These saved objects serve as cherished memories for Victoria, similar to souvenirs she collects when traveling.

Victoria's habit began during the very first season with an episode in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, which featured a former brothel. She preserved a piece of glitter-infused drywall and a unique swan faucet from this renovation. She also repurposes some items, such as a bottle opener shaped like teeth from a Minnesota home, which she now uses for her own drinks.

For Victoria, shows like "Scariest House in America" offer a welcome contrast to her more demanding renovation series, "Windy City Rehab" and "Sin City Rehab." She describes "Scariest House" as filled with laughter and fun, emphasizing the lighthearted dynamic she shares with co-star Retta. Their interactions, both on and off-screen, have become a highlight of the series.
