Rima Das's 'Not a Hero' Wins Crystal Bear at Berlinale

Director Rima Das's latest film, 'Not a Hero,' has been honored with the Crystal Bear Special Mention at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival. This award celebrates the film's significant connection with younger viewers. The film premiered last week in the Generation Kplus Competition section.

'Not a Hero' tells the story of a young boy adjusting to an unfamiliar world, exploring themes of strength and masculinity. Set between urban and rural landscapes, the narrative follows his journey from city life to his ancestral village, where he encounters family and discovers inner courage.

The film stars Bhuman Bhargav Das and Sukanya Boruah, alongside non-professional actors. Das expressed gratitude, stating the award is meaningful as the film was made by "listening closely and trusting children." This marks the third occasion Rima Das has presented her work at the Berlinale, following 'Village Rockstar' and 'Village Rockstars 2.'
