Mavryk has acquired worldwide rights to the experimental thriller "And Her Body Was Never Found," which made its debut at SXSW. The film marks the directorial feature debut for Polaris Banks, who also co-wrote the script with and stars alongside Mor Cohen.
The narrative centers on Jeff and Keren, a couple seeking to mend their strained relationship by venturing into the wilderness. What begins as a trip meant to reconnect them devolves into a more sinister situation as a casual remark about accidents stops sounding like a joke, shifting the film's tone and structure.
Director Polaris Banks described the film as a unique collaboration, stating, "half my dark side and half Mor's twisted into one strand of monstrous DNA." Mavryk's Greg Bekkers expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its distinctive genre elements and compelling narrative, which he believes will resonate with audiences globally.
The film was produced by Hilarion Banks, Polaris Banks, and Mor Cohen, with Tristan Barr, Josh Doke, Jonathan Barkan, and David Gim serving as executive producers. Mavryk's presence at TIFF will also include other titles like "Follow Me" and "All Happy Families."
