A new television adaptation of Henry James' classic novel, 'The Portrait of a Lady,' is currently in production. The limited series, set to be a six-part drama, will feature a prominent cast led by Bill Nighy, Gemma Arterton, and Nell Tiger Free.
Nell Tiger Free portrays Isabel Archer, a young American woman who travels to Europe seeking new experiences. She inherits a significant fortune, which unfortunately makes her a target for manipulative expatriates, Madame Merle, played by Gemma Arterton, and Gilbert Osmond, portrayed by Jim Sturgess.
Bill Nighy joins the ensemble as Mr. Touchett, a character who endeavors to support Isabel's pursuit of freedom. Miranda Richardson is cast as the eccentric Mrs. Touchett, Isabel's aunt, who guides her to Europe in hopes of finding a husband. Filming for the series has begun and is taking place across multiple international locations, including the U.K., Hungary, and Croatia.
