Hello Kitty is set to make her comic book debut in a new multi-title partnership between Sanrio and IDW Publishing. The inaugural series, "Hello Kitty: Hello World," will launch on July 22, aligning with San Diego Comic Con. This series features Hello Kitty and her friends embarking on a global adventure to solve riddles and encounter new characters throughout their journey.
The creative team behind "Hello Kitty: Hello World" includes writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Cody Lemieux. Following this summer's launch, IDW Publishing has announced plans to release additional "Hello Kitty" comics and crossover titles in 2027, expanding the character's presence in the comic world.
Sanrio's beloved character, first introduced in 1974, continues to grow in popularity, with merchandise and media projects like an upcoming animated feature film from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and New Line Cinema slated for July 2028. IDW Publishing's CEO expressed excitement for the collaboration, aiming to create uplifting stories for all ages.
