Sony Pictures has slated a November 10, 2027 release for its upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game, Helldivers. The project is currently being shopped to international buyers and will feature actor Jason Momoa in a starring role.
Gary Dauberman, the screenwriter behind the successful 'It' and 'Annabelle' horror films, has penned the script for Helldivers. Lin, recognized for his work on the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, is directing the movie. The game, first launched in 2015, and its sequel, Helldivers 2, which has sold over 12 million units, center on an elite unit known as Helldivers.
These soldiers are tasked with defending the fictional planet Super Earth from destructive alien creatures. Hutch Parker, Asad Qizilbash, and Lin are producing the video game adaptation. This collaboration follows Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions' previous success with 'Uncharted,' another video game movie that grossed $407 million globally.
