Birmingham welcomes Helen George back for stage show

Birmingham native Helen George is currently gracing the stage in her hometown with a revival of the 1956 musical, 'High Society'. The actress, widely recognized for her role as Trixie Aylward in the popular BBC drama 'Call the Midwife', is performing at the Alexandra Theatre this week as the UK tour commences. She is joined on stage by film and television actor Freddie Fox.

George, who also appeared on 'Strictly Come Dancing' and grew up in the Harborne area of Birmingham, shared her positive reception from the city's audiences. She described them as "kind, responsive and lovely." As a special welcome, theatre staff left a "big bar of Cadbury chocolate" in her dressing room. George also humorously promised to treat her co-star, Fox, to a traditional Birmingham Balti during their engagement.
