"Heaven's Gate," a five-episode limited series, is set to captivate audiences with its exploration of buried family secrets across dual timelines. The narrative unfolds in 1942 and the mid-1990s, following Saskia as she inherits a remote Indonesian plantation named Heaven's Gate. What begins as a practical endeavor transforms into a haunting journey into her family's colonial past.
Saskia becomes increasingly immersed in visions of Anisa, a Javanese woman from 1942 entangled in a complex love triangle. As Saskia's connection to the past deepens, her daughter Alex worries about her sanity and struggles to maintain a connection to the present. The series is the first official television co-production between the Netherlands and Malaysia.
Directed by Jim Taihuttu and Lisette Donkersloot, and written by a team including Jim Taihuttu and Randy Oost, the show features a notable cast. Production commenced in Malaysia, with a scheduled delivery in early 2027. Global Constellation is handling international sales for the series, presenting it at Series Mania.
