Filming for the second season of HBO's crime drama "Task" is underway in southeastern Pennsylvania, with production crews set to return to Wissahickon Valley Park next week. From Monday, August 3, to Friday, August 7, scenes will be filmed along parts of the scenic Forbidden Drive. While Forbidden Drive will remain accessible, other sections of the park will experience temporary closures, including the Bells Mill West Lot on August 3 and the trail entrance at Manatawna Avenue on August 4 and 5.
The series, created by Brad Ingelsby, has been a significant draw for regional production, having received $49.8 million in tax credits from the Pennsylvania Film Office – the largest credit ever awarded to a single production by the state. This funding supports the decision to shoot the entire series in southeastern Pennsylvania. Previous filming for season two has occurred in Manayunk and Drexel Hill.
Season two will see Mark Ruffalo return as FBI agent Tom Brandis, joined by Mahershala Ali as Philadelphia-based DEA agent Eddie Barnes. Hints suggest a conflict between their respective task forces. The cast also includes Julianne Nicholson reprising her role from "Mare of Easttown," and returning cast members Martha Plimpton and Silvia Dionicio. The first season garnered six Emmy nominations.
