Magical Filming Brings Unexpected Road Upgrades to Lustleigh, Devon
17 Oct
Summary
- HBO's Harry Potter TV series filming in Lustleigh, Devon
- Potholes on local roads to be filled due to production needs
- Villagers snarky that it took filming to prompt road repairs

As of October 18th, 2025, the cast and crew of HBO's highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series are hard at work on production. The magical cast is in costume and bringing their beloved characters to life, with a small Warner Bros. Studios metropolis and a real school for the child stars assembled for filming.
The show's production is chugging right along, and the upcoming streaming series has even made sure to do a good deed during the process. Some scenes from the new Harry Potter show are set to be filmed in Lustleigh, Devon, but the village's variety of potholes posed a dangerous hazard for the set. Fortunately, the parish clerk has announced that those pesky road hazards on Wreyland path will be filled.
While UK residents are generally pleased with the repairs, many of Lustleigh's villagers have responded with snark. They're understandably frustrated that it took the high-profile filming to finally address the pothole problem, as the town typically relies on council volunteers and a "Lustleigh pothole tracker" spreadsheet to maintain their roads. Larger potholes have to be reported to the council, which can be a slow process.
With the Harry Potter series filming expected to take 10-11 months per season, the producers clearly wanted to ensure the roads were in good shape for the extensive production. Though the villagers may be snarky, they'll likely be pleased when their town of 600 residents is showcased on a global scale when the highly anticipated adaptation hits HBO Max in 2027.
