HBO Max Orders Family Drama "How To Survive Without Me"

The family drama "How To Survive Without Me," featuring a star-studded cast including Ray Romano and Kaley Cuoco, has officially received a series order from HBO Max. The project, from Greg Berlanti, will comprise 15 episodes, aligning with HBO Max's strategy for modestly budgeted, yearly released series.

The show centers on the De Angelis family, who begin to drift after the passing of their matriarch, Beverly. In true fashion, she ensures her guidance continues from beyond the grave, prompting the family to find ways to stay connected and support one another through future challenges.

Ray Romano takes on the role of the patriarch, with Rita Wilson portraying the late matriarch. The ensemble cast also includes Joshua Jackson, Julia Schlaepfer, and Jack Ball, among others, portraying members of the De Angelis family.

Greg Berlanti expressed his emotional connection to returning to family drama storytelling, nearly 25 years after his first created a show of a similar genre. He highlighted the collaborative effort with Bash Doran and Robbie Rogers, drawing from personal family experiences of love and loss.

Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming, praised the dream cast assembled for this emotional story. Channing Dungey of Warner Bros.
