As of November 6th, 2025, HBO Max has greenlit two new one-hour drama pilots from Warner Bros. Television in an effort to emulate the success of their hit medical series "The Pitt."
The first pilot, titled "American Blue," centers on Brian "Milk" Milkovich, a native of Joliet, Illinois, who returns to his hometown to rescue a struggling local police force while also seeking personal redemption. The project is being written and executive produced by Jeremy Carver under his overall deal with Warner Bros. TV.
The second pilot, currently titled "How to Survive Without Me," is a family drama that will be written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran. The story is co-developed by Berlanti, Doran, and Robbie Rogers, who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman through Berlanti Productions.
Both new pilots are aiming to replicate the longer episode order and more modest budget that has contributed to the massive success of "The Pitt," HBO Max's Emmy-winning medical drama. The streamer hopes these new projects can capture a similar level of critical acclaim and viewership when they potentially join the platform's lineup in the coming years.
