New details have emerged concerning the tumultuous relationship between Hayden Panettiere and Brian Hickerson, following the actress's passing at 36. Panettiere's mother, Lesley Vogel, stated that Hickerson had allegedly pawned some of the actress's belongings, such as a vintage guitar, prior to her death. Vogel also claimed Panettiere was surprised to find more of her possessions in Hickerson's storage unit.
Panettiere and Hickerson dated intermittently from 2018 to 2020, ending after a domestic violence incident for which Hickerson received a jail sentence, later suspended for probation. Weeks before her death, Panettiere spoke on a podcast about needing significant support to ensure Hickerson could not re-enter her life. Hickerson's attorney stated that the investigation into Panettiere's death is ongoing and that no foul play was found.
Panettiere was discovered deceased in South Carolina on August 16. A police report indicated Hickerson was present at the scene. Although life-saving measures were administered, they were unsuccessful. Panettiere's mother has expressed her belief that Brian Hickerson is culpable for her daughter's death, refuting claims by Hickerson and his brother that they attempted to save her life. Panettiere is survived by her parents and her 11-year-old daughter.
