Paramount Pictures is developing a new feature film adaptation of the beloved 1960s television series, Hawaii Five-O. Destin Daniel Cretton, widely recognized for directing the latest successful Spider-Man installment, is attached to develop and direct the project. Chris Bremner, known for his work on "Bad Boys for Life," is set to pen the script, with Noah Oppenheim also attached as a producer.
The studio aims to capture the essence of the original 1968-1980 CBS series, which starred Jack Lord as the determined lawman Steve McGarrett leading a special task force in Hawaii. Previous attempts to bring Hawaii Five-O to the big screen have been hindered by legal and rights issues.
Cretton's involvement follows his critical and commercial success with "Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings" and the recent "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which has achieved significant box office success.
