- Artwork must endure harsh coastal weather or creatively respond.

Hastings Borough Council is initiating a search for artists to contribute to the revitalization of Bottle Alley, a notable 1930s covered promenade. This landmark, featuring 113 concrete columns, requires updated artistic elements as the current installation, 'Wavelengths,' needs refreshing.
A budget of £30,000 has been designated for this project. Artists are encouraged to submit designs that can withstand or creatively engage with the promenade's extreme environmental conditions, including intense summer sunlight, high footfall, and harsh winter storms characterized by salt spray and dampness.
Originally designed by borough engineer Sidney Little, Bottle Alley serves as a vital pedestrian link between the pier and Warrior Square. Its name originates from the embedded colored glass bottles found within its concrete panels, a unique feature of this revolutionary seafront structure.
