Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) recently hosted its first 'Sang Samagam,' a significant event dedicated to reviving Haryana's traditional folk theatre, Sang. The campus vibrated with drumbeats and spoken word as leading Sang exponents delivered compelling performances.
Dr. Satish Kashyap, Pandit Vishnu Dutt, and Pradeep Rai showcased the depth and emotional power of Sang with renditions like "Sangt Kabir," "Kissa Chap Singh," and "Leelo Chaman." The event was attended by Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda and other dignitaries, highlighting the cultural importance of the initiative.
Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda praised the event, emphasizing the need for youth to connect with their cultural legacy. He congratulated Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya for conceptualizing the program. Families of legendary Sang artists were also honored, adding an emotional layer to the celebration.
