Haruomi Hosono has released his interpretation of the Moonglows' 1954 doo-wop classic, "Sincerely." This new track is featured on his upcoming album, "Yours Sincerely," which is set to be released on September 11. The co-founder of Yellow Magic Orchestra reimagined the song with a minimally adorned acoustic-guitar arrangement.
Hosono explained that the original lyrics, written by Harvey Fuqua and Alan Freed, expressed intense yearning. However, for his version, he focused on the word's original meaning of "from the heart." He chose to pen new lyrics in Japanese as a tribute to the spirit of the 1950s and the beloved original song.
Fans can also look forward to seeing Hosono perform live. He is scheduled to play two shows with Toro y Moi next month, on September 16 at New York's Radio City Music Hall and on September 20 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
