The upcoming Harry Potter television series faced significant disruption as Apple Maps revealed top-secret set images. These images provided an early look at various iconic Harry Potter locations, including Hagrid's hut and Gringotts Wizarding Bank in Diagon Alley, and Privet Drive. The show, a joint venture between HBO and Warner Bros., aims to retell Harry's story at Hogwarts, following the plot of J.K. Rowling's books.
Production for the series has been highly secretive, with staff reportedly using code names like 'Dark Train' to maintain confidentiality. Despite these measures, the leak via Apple Maps has provided fans with unprecedented access to the show's visual elements. The series is currently filming at Warner Bros. Studio in Leavesden, with new child actors taking on the lead roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, who were announced in May 2025.
Speculation surrounding the casting of Lord Voldemort has also been a prominent aspect of the show's development. Initially, Cillian Murphy was considered, but he declined the role. More recently, Paul Bettany has emerged as a frontrunner favorite among HBO bosses for the part. The series has also confirmed cast members such as John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. A body double, Isaac Geut, has also been hired to stand in for the lead actor, Dominic McLaughlin.
