Hansen Slams Pattinson 'To Catch a Predator' Movie

The forthcoming film 'Primetime,' directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, is generating controversy ahead of its September 25, 2026 release. The movie chronicles the early days of the show 'To Catch a Predator,' a subject matter that has already drawn sharp criticism from Hansen himself, who has labeled the film 'an insult.'

Despite Hansen's strong reaction, Oppenheim has conveyed that he still wishes for the journalist to see the movie. Oppenheim revealed that Hansen's own portrayal of outting child sex predators was the initial inspiration for the project, stemming from a Cameo video the director purchased. Oppenheim noted this inspiration predated his involvement with the script.

Meanwhile, Oppenheim is also co-directing 'You Can See Everything,' a film about Elizabeth Holmes, with Nathan Fielder. This dual focus on provocative subjects has positioned Oppenheim as a director tapping into compelling narratives.
