Summary
- Krakow, lead actress, hopes for Lori Loughlin's return as Abigail Stanton
- Loughlin's character was written off in 2019 after college admissions scandal
- Hallmark has started airing Loughlin's past movies again on its network

As of November 2025, Hallmark star Erin Krakow, who plays the lead character Elizabeth Thornton on "When Calls the Heart," has expressed her hope for the return of Lori Loughlin's character Abigail Stanton to the show. Krakow, 41, revealed that she has been hoping for Loughlin's comeback "for years and years," describing the actress as a "very dear friend" with a "real good heart."
Loughlin's Abigail was written off the show in 2019 after the actress was arrested for her alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal. However, in the years since Loughlin's release from prison, both Krakow and her co-star Kevin McGarry have voiced their desire to welcome the actress back to the "When Calls the Heart" cast.
While Loughlin's official return has not been confirmed, Hallmark has started to reintroduce her past projects to the network. In 2022, the channel made Loughlin's "Garage Sale Mysteries" films available on its streaming service, and various titles from the mystery collection have also aired on Hallmark Channel this year. This has fueled speculation among fans and the show's cast that Loughlin may be on her way back to Hope Valley.
