- Production faced extreme desert heat, flash floods, and a wartime evacuation.

Director Samjad's new film, "Half," offers a fresh take on vampire mythology, focusing on raw, grounded action without slow motion. The narrative centers on twin siblings who, after a brutal attack, discover their half-vampire abilities and embark on a quest for vengeance.
The film's action sequences, coordinated by Very Tri Yulisman, are described as creative, clear, and impactful, often shot in daylight to distinguish from typical vampire fare. Samjad aimed for an aesthetic reminiscent of 80s and 90s cinema, utilizing zoom lenses and manual camera techniques.
Production of "Half" was fraught with challenges. The crew battled extreme desert temperatures reaching 56 Celsius (132.8 Fahrenheit), sudden hailstorms that destroyed sets, and flash floods. Adding to the peril, filming was interrupted by a war, forcing an evacuation and a two-month hiatus before resuming.
Samjad explored unique aspects of half-vampire physiology, such as selective healing under specific light conditions, differentiating them from traditional vampires. The film, which premiered at TIFF Midnight Madness and Fantastic Fest, is set for the Sitges Film Festival and is seeking U.S. distribution.
