Guild Wars 3 is set to revolutionize the MMORPG genre with its new momentum system, designed to create fluid, seamless transitions between movement and combat.
ArenaNet studio head Colin Johanson explained that the system allows players to maintain momentum while performing various actions, from dismounting a mount to gliding or wall-running, a feature described as a "first" for the genre.
This momentum not only enhances traversal but also plays a crucial role in combat. Players can increase damage and attack radius by carrying momentum into attacks, and environmental interactions, such as knocking enemies into walls, become strategic elements. The game, scheduled for a beta in Fall 2027, will be available on PC and PlayStation 5.
