The film is a co-production between Guatemala and Mexico, produced by Pamela Guinea and Joaquín Ruano. It delves into the story of a quiet, forbidden connection that forms in a deeply conservative Guatemalan society, confronting prejudice, power, and violence.
"Nosotros" centers on Romero, a security guard who leaves his family to seek a better future in the capital. His life changes when he meets Nubia, a trans woman, and they build a private sanctuary. However, their bond is threatened by rising suspicion from Romero's colleagues.
FiGa Films' CEO, Sandro Fiorin, has a long-standing relationship with producer Pamela Guinea, emphasizing a trust built over years and multiple collaborations. Fiorin praised the film's blend of intimate love story and social realism, aligning with FiGa's brand of bold cinema.
Founded in 2006, FiGa Films boasts a library of over 80 films, primarily from Latin America, supporting both emerging and established filmmakers. The 51st TIFF is scheduled to run from September 10th to 20th.
