GTA VI File Size: The Great Unknown
22 Aug
Summary
- Grand Theft Auto VI's file size remains unconfirmed by Rockstar.
- Fan estimates range from 100GB to 250GB based on game scale.
- Digital-only release fuels speculation and recent leaks.
Grand Theft Auto VI is slated for release on November 19, with a gameplay reveal expected on Netflix. However, the game's file size is currently unknown, as Rockstar has not provided any official confirmation.
Fan speculation on platforms like Reddit estimates the file size to be between 100GB and 250GB. This is based on the game's anticipated scale and current trends in open-world game sizes. While some compare it to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's large install size, these comparisons are not direct, as Call of Duty titles often bundle multiple games.
The absence of a physical disc release for GTA VI has contributed to speculation. While a physical box with a redemption code will be available, some fans believe the game's sheer size influenced this decision. This digital-first approach has also been cited by groups responsible for recent leaks as a reason for their actions.
Historically, multi-disc games were common, and the practice has seen a resurgence, with titles like Horizon Forbidden West and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launching on multiple discs. However, most modern games do not exceed 100GB.
