In a recent interview, Grey's Anatomy actor Dane opened up about missing the 2025 Emmy Awards. Dane, who played Dr. Mark Sloan on the long-running medical drama, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) back in April of this year.
At the time of the Emmys on October 3, 2025, Dane was in the hospital receiving stitches for a head injury, preventing him from attending the ceremony. He expressed disappointment at missing the Grey's Anatomy tribute, saying he was looking forward to reuniting with his former co-stars and presenting an award.
Dane revealed that his ALS diagnosis has been a significant challenge, with the disease already causing a complete loss of function in his right arm. He is also worried about weakness developing on the left side of his body, fearing he may lose use of that hand in the coming months as well.
Despite his health struggles, Dane remains committed to his acting career. He is set to reprise his role as Cal Jacobs in the upcoming third season of the HBO hit Euphoria, which is scheduled to begin filming next week.
