In a heartwarming display, acclaimed directors Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach made a rare joint red carpet appearance at the Venice Film Festival on November 13, 2025. The couple, who have been together since shortly after collaborating on the 2012 film Frances Ha, have largely kept their personal life out of the spotlight.
However, in a recent interview, Baumbach, 56, opened up about how his relationship with Gerwig has helped him become more vulnerable and expressive over the years. "I cry a lot now," he told GQ, explaining that he finds "a lot of life emotional in a good way." Baumbach attributed this shift to both the aging process and the profound impact of fatherhood, as he and Gerwig share two young sons, ages 6 and 2.
"Being with Greta," Baumbach added, has also played a significant role in his personal transformation. The Little Women director has encouraged him to embrace the more whimsical and emotive aspects of his personality that he once tried to suppress. "With Greta and I, we really recognize each other, even though it manifests in different ways sometimes," he said. "That helped me gain access to, like, 'Actually, I am like that.'"
